Stereotypes (go back »)

June 16 2008, 9:58 AM

Hello, and good day to you, fellow reader. Today, I will be speaking about "stereotypes", which happens to be a common subject in our time, but if I am about to speak about such a topic, obviously something/one must have evoked that kind of response. Yes, that is true; I am responding to the stimulus of having come across someone who willingly labels themself with one word.

"Prep", "emo", "ganster"...
Frankly, I don't give a damn, but you can just choose one of the above for the "someone" I came across.

What did I feel at first?

Disgust.

Because it is merely repulsive how people have lost their dignity, self-respect, and identity to these single words.

It seems these days that I only happen to stumble upon carbon-copies. How mundane. I am fond of people, not clones. If you are a person who has succumbed to labeling yourself, well then...I suppose that gives me all the blessings to say that you have little to no dignity. Sad, is it not?

People tend to label me verbally, I do it mentally.

You say, "She's emo!"
I say, "You're worthless."

Worthless as in you're not worth my time. Though, I do give the attempt to learn before I judge, but the results tend to be the same: worthless. Worthless. Worthless. Carbon copy. Carbon copy. Carbon copy...

I also believe it's quite sad how we refer to each other by stereotypes, rather than identifying with names. People always claim that they are different, but they certainly don't treat other people as if they're different.

The majority of our generation (youths) is wrapped up in these egoistical culture of society. Maybe that's why I don't have many...well, no one to converse in real life. I come across carbon copy after carbon copy.

I honestly don't give a fuck to your physical apperance, what music you listen to, and etc. I care as to whether or not you have the courage to see reality, the strength to acknowledge pain, and the capablity to have an intelligent conversation.

Please don't misunderstand me for thinking that I am better than anyone. If not anything, I am equal to you, but different.

You are a carbon copy.
I am a human being.
